One of the best kept secrets on Oahu, the oceanfront New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel is located at the Diamond Head end of Waikiki. Across the street is Kapiolani Park, 200 acres filled with walking, biking and jogging paths, athletic fields, tennis courts, the Zoo the beautifully renovated Bandstand for Sunday Concerts and the outdoor concert venue, The Waikiki Shell. On the opposite side of the 125-room boutique hotel is the Pacific Ocean and San Souci Beach, one of the best in the area, frequented mainly by local residents.
The open-air Hau Tree Lanai is a wonderful restaurant, popular with both residents and the hotel's guests. Located on the beach side, you'll dine alfresco under the ancient Hau Trees, where Robert Louis Stevenson spent his time writing. Flickering torches and candlelight, fabulous food and breathtaking views makes this one of the most romantic spots on Oahu. Moderate rooms include either a Queen size bed or two twin beds. While not large, they have the adventage of being both economical and just steps from the beach and unless you plan to spend a great deal of time in your room, they are more than adequate with a good selection of amenities and kept very clean.
