The Aqua Waikiki Wave at the Marketplace was formerly known as the Aston Coral Reef. An older budget property, it had lost much of its sparkle over the years until the Aqua Hotels & Resorts group took it over in 2006 and did a $7 million renovation. Officially opened in October 2006, the hotel has been turned into a charming boutique hotel that is receiving rave reviews from guests. Located in the heart of Waikiki on Kuhio Avenue, it is just a short walk to the beach and all the excitement, entertainment, restaurants and clubs that have made Waikiki almost as famous as its beaches.
The air conditioned rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, featuring either queen or king size beds and private lanais. The colors used in the rooms are dramatic, yet soothing and a perfect compliment to the views off the lanai and the mattresses are deep and plush, sure to guarantee a good nights sleep. Depending on the floor level there are views of the ocean, mountains and treescapes. Amenities include complimentary continental breakfast, Wi-Fi access in room, local newspaper, mini-refrigerator, microwave and coffee/maker, hair dryer by request, room service, flat screen Cable TV, DVD and so much more. The hotel is not on the beach, but then again it is also hundreds of dollars less a night because of that.
