The 1-1/2 Star Uncle Billy's Kona Bay Hotel is a Hawaiian family owned hotel with a wonderful location in Kona on the Big Island. It is close to all water activities, restaurants, night life and cultural activities. Uncle Billy's is a budget hotel and staffed by family members with an emphasis on Hawaiian history and culture.
The air conditioned rooms have either one king or two double beds, ceiling fans and a table and chairs. All rooms have a private lanai with either partial ocean or garden views. Amenities include direct dial phone, mini refrigerator, cable TV, clock radio, dial up internet ac cess (fee), hair dryer, wake up calls, complimentary toiletries, limited nonsmoking rooms and more.
Kimo's Family Buffet Restaurant is on-site and features an open air Polynesian style restaurant that serves both breakfast and dinner. Property amenities include both an adult and children's swimming pool, wireless internet access (fee), 24-hour desk, laundry facilities, security guard, parking (fee) and safety deposit box at the front desk.
The hotel is located very near the Kona Inn Shopping Village. Formerly a hotel, it has been renovated into a nice boutique type shopping venue with art stores, gift shops and clothing stores. It is also home to the Kona Inn Restaurant, a great place to watch sunsets while sipping on a Mai Tai. Other restaurants, shops and bars are located along Ali'i Drive, as well as many water activities.
The property and the rooms are dated, so if you are looking for moderate accommodations this would not be the hotel for you, but if you are looking for a true budget hotel in a great location this might be the place to be.
